Hello, MEAD 2025 Speakers! We are very excited to see you this year at our 21st Annual Mathematics Educator Appreciation Day!

Below you will find directions for:

  • Sched Schedule Details
  • Materials for Conference
  • Directions and Parking
  • Session Links and Zoom Hosts for Virtual Speakers

If you have any further questions, feel free to email us at math-crr@arizona.edu

SCHED Schedule Details:

By this point in time, all speakers should have registered for a MEAD Speaker Registration Ticket at Eventbrite, which is linked to your SCHED account. (You MUST do this first to ensure both platforms are ready to go!)

As Speakers, Sched offers you Speaker Tools to manage your session:

Click Here for Sched Speaker Tools

  • When you log in (https://mead2025.sched.com/) to view your schedule, you should see a banner above the schedule that says: "You're speaking at this event! Manage & promote your sessions" (https://www.screencast.com/t/Dia0rdKFbkL
  • This takes you to "My Speakers Sessions" where you can see all the sessions that you are PRESENTING. You can click on your sessions to review the details, check enrollment numbers, and select "Speaker Tools" if you would like to update your profile or upload documents (by clicking "Add Presentation" ) for participants to access before/during/after your session.
    • Make sure you select the sessions you would like to attend, INCLUDING YOUR OWN!

This may sound confusing in writing, but you will easily see how it works when you log in and explore. The important thing is that you fully understand your schedule for the day, including sessions you are PRESENTING and sessions you are ATTENDING.

EVALUATION SLIDE AND OPTIONAL CLOSING ACTIVITY

There is an optional slide as well with a possible Closing Activity that encourages MEAD attendees to meet with one another and share what they learned from your session!

Materials for Conference:

Please bring all materials and technology you need to host your session, including a laptop, video adapter for connecting to the project/panel (HDMI or USB-C), handouts, markers, manipulatives, etc. Most classrooms will have a projector or Promethean Panel for presenting your slides.

To find the room number of your session, simply go to your schedule on the Sched App and click on the session. Then, scroll down to find the room number:

  • There will be a Hospitality Room provided for you if you need to drop off materials or grab a snack in between your sessions. It will be located in the Teacher Lounge next to the Cafeteria.
  • If you are presenting during Session C (10:40 AM - 11:40 AM ), we will have reserved tables for you at the Keynote Luncheon in case there is little seating by the time you arrive.

Room & Technology Information

  1. You will find the number of your classroom on the Sched app. Please download and login for all conference materials.
  2. When using the classroom for your session, please reference the Classroom Letter from TMHS to help you with technology:
  3. Please take care of the classroom as a guest.  If you move desks or tables, please rearrange them back to the conditions and configuration that they were in when you arrived. Do not touch or “borrow” items from the room.  If you need materials, you can check them out from the MEAD Hospitality Room next to the cafeteria.
  4. Presenting
    1. We encourage you to present on the Promethean Panel by accessing the internet through the panel. This is the most ideal way to access the internet. Hit the “fire” button, select “applications”, and then select “chrome”.  From there you should be able to access the internet (you may have to click through some error messages, but you should be fine).
    2. You can also present on the Promethean Panel by plugging your computer into the HDMI or USB-C Cable. Bring your own cords, as not all classrooms have them available. If they are available, please make sure you leave them where you found them. Touch the screen, select the “source” button (looks like an arrow in a box) and then select the HDMI or USB-C. (**Mac users should be sure to bring an adapter/dongle!)
  5. If you need internet access for your computer and other personal devices, you’ll need to select “TUSD_Open”, get the website open to the “Acceptable Use Policy page”, scroll the “use page” all the way down then click the “Accept” button, and once accepted you’ll be connected!
  6. For technology issues, please contact Michael Perkins, via TEXT MESSAGE 520-203-2502 with a room number and short description of the tech issue, and he'll send Tech Support as soon as possible.
  7. If you borrowed any materials from the Hospitality Room, please return them.

Directions and Parking:

Below are drop-downs with maps and directions on how to help you during MEAD.

Below you will find Maps and Directions for the day of MEAD. This includes Parking at Tucson High Magnet School, Parking lots and street parking, Directions to the High School, Parking for the Luncheon, and Directions to find the Grand Ballroom.

  • If you have any materials necessary for your sessions as an IN-PERSON Presenter, you may drop them off in the morning at Tucson High.
    • There will be a Hospitality Room provided for you if you need to drop off materials or grab a snack in between your sessions. It will be located in the Teacher Lounge next to the Cafeteria.
  • Parking at Tucson High Magnet School is very limited, so please plan accordingly. Take advantage of the free parking available in the lots marked on the map below for a hassle-free experience. You can also find convenient street parking along 7th Street and 8th Street near THMS.
  • After the morning conference sessions, we will provide a shuttle to transport you from THMS to the Keynote Luncheon, and then back to THMS at the end of the day.
  • We DO NOT recommend parking in any garages, as you will be required to pay for it. Additionally, avoid the 2nd Street Garage due to other UA campus events that increase the price to $15–$20.
  • For those who need disability access or special assistance at THMS, you will find parking in the 6th Street lot. You will also find parking just west of 2nd Street Garage in Lot 3140.

VIRTUAL SPEAKERS - Session Links and Zoom Hosts:

You can find Zoom links for all sessions (including the keynote address) in Sched.

On the morning of MEAD, you can go to your session, click on the yellow “Open Zoom” button, register, and access your session.

  • 15 minutes before your session, a Zoom Host (UA personnel) will already be in the Zoom room to welcome you from the Waiting Room.
    • Your Zoom Profile name must be accurate so the Zoom Host knows to let you in while leaving attendees in the Waiting Room.
  • Once you are in your Zoom room, the role of Host will be passed on to you and you have a few minutes to get set up.
    • Please prepare to let participants in as soon as you are ready (at least 5 minutes before your session begins)!
  • The UA Personnel will remain in your session to assist you. They are problem solvers who can communicate immediately with CRR Staff if needed. In order to open their next session, they will need to “End Meeting for All” on time.
