Sept. 11th Service Day

The University of Arizona Center for Recruitment and Retention of Mathematics Teachers Student Thinking Enrichment for Mathematics Mentors AmeriCorps program, in collaboration with AZServe, Pima Prevention Partnership, UA WildCats Corps, and Senior Corps Foster Grandparent Program propose to have 75 volunteers who will host Family Game Events in Pima, Cochise, Yuma, and Santa Cruz Counties, AZ on September 11th Day of Service and Remembrance. On the September 11 Day of Service, 75  volunteers will be responsible for increasing family engagement for military, veteran, first responder families, as well as increasing community collaboration and connection in remembrance of those who sacrificed their lives in service to our country on September 11. This program will focus on the CNCS focus areas of engaging and supporting Veterans and Military Families in September 11th National Day of Service and Remembrance activities and training volunteers who make a commitment for future service.

Targets:

  • Provide September 11 Remembrance Family Game Events at 15 sites across Arizona

  • Engage 75 families across our sites that are veterans, military, first responders, or families impacted by September 11 loss in the September 11 Family Game Events. 

  • Engage 150 families or community organizations in the September 11 Family Game Events. 

  • Engage 75 volunteers
