Out Reach

Linda Dahlsgaard (Catalina Foothills School District), Lisa Caraboa (Pima Regional Support Center), Mary Schumacher (University of Arizona) and Shannon Smith (Amphi School District) are members of the steering committee that helped plan the Mathematics Educator Appreciation Day Conference. The Center works with 8 school districts in the Tucson area and the Pima Regional Support Center to support mathematics teachers and attract new people to the profession.
Information is provided as needed to parents requesting tutors for school-age children and to school districts looking for qualified teaching applicants. Assistance is provided to graduates with regard to certification and job placement. The Center actively participates in the selection of recipients for the mathematics education scholarships, networks with other mathematics and science programs and works closely with the College of Education.

Advanced Placement Calculus
Practice Exam

Saturday, April 28, 2012


The Center for Recruitment and Retention and the Mathematics Department at the University of Arizona will be hosting the Fifth Annual Advanced Placement Calculus Practice Exam (AB and BC). The Practice Exam will be held on Saturday, April 28, 2012, on the university campus.

The practice exam will be given in the morning and, after a short lunch, we will review the solutions and grading standards of the Free Response section in the afternoon. Since we will grade the Multiple Choice portion of the exam while the students are working on the Free Response problems, every student will know their grade (1-5) on the exam when the afternoon session is completed. Once the practice exam has begun, teachers are invited to share ideas and refreshments.
