The 5th Annual Math Educators Appreciation Day Conference was held on Saturday, January 24, 2009. More than 400 people participated in the event. The day began with registration and a continental breakfast (sponsored by Glencoe/McGraw Hill). There were forty-one sessions which included hands-on activities, technology training, pedagogical issues, rich mathematical explorations, and much more. After enjoying a delicious lunch (co-sponsored by Pearson Prentice-Hall and CRR) , Dr. Edward Burger, our keynote speaker (sponsored by Holt McDougall), gave an interesting and amusing talk about The Fourth Dimension. Special luncheon guest, Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords gave a brief supportive message for mathematics and the sciences in K-12 schools.
This year's conference received the highest evaluation scores yet. We greatly appreciate your attendance, your support, and your suggestions for session topics for next year. Because of your feedback, and the willingness of fabulous educators to present, we are able to improve each year. The conference evaluations are anonymous so I can't cite the people quoted, but I'd like to quote just a few remarks.
